Duct Sealing Aeroseal Services

Why Should Ducts in Commercial Buildings Be Sealed?
Duct sealing in commercial buildings cost-effectively saves energy, improves air and thermal distribution (comfort and ventilation), and reduces cross contamination between different zones in the building (i.e. bio-aerosols, localized indoor air pollutants).

How Much Energy Does the Sealing Process Save?
Energy savings are different for light commercial vs. large commercial buildings and obviously depend upon the initial duct leakage level. The Carrier-Aeroseal Energy Savings Excel spreadsheet can be used to estimate the savings for both types of buildings. For ducts above an insulated ceiling in a light commercial building, energy savings should be 1030% of HVAC energy use, and peak electricity-demand reduction is generally a higher percentage. In a large commercial office building with a VAV system, energy savings and demand reduction should be 2040% of fan-system energy use and 510% of cooling energy use. As a rough estimate, excluding any of the non-energy benefits of duct sealing, simple payback times typically range from 1 to 4 years, and return on investment between 30% and 70%.

Diagnose & inspect:
The Aeroseal air duct diagnostic system tests specifically find:

• The amount and percentage of air leaking from the ductwork.
• Inconsistent temperature variations throughout the home.
• Air flow levels for each space in the building.
• Proper sizing of return air grilles.
• Backdraft and combustion safety hazard potentials.
• Manual repair needs of air duct system.

In an Aeroseal air duct diagnostic, a certified Park Mechanical technician evaluates your central air duct system and recommends ways to maximize your savings and improve your building's comfort.

Park Mechanical certified technicians use computer-based tools and reports to gather information about duct leakage, register temperatures and register airflows.

Diagnostic results are documented in a printed report that is printed on-the-spot and given to the customer.

Seal and Verify:

To start the Aeroseal duct sealing process, all room ceiling or floor registers are replaced with foam plugs.

A small access hole is cut into the supply or return air plenum and a temporary collar is attached. The air conditioning indoor coil, fan, and furnace are temporarily blocked with a foam plug to avoid the entrance of any sealing particles into this equipment.

Once the system is properly sealed the patented injection machine is connected to the air duct system using a flexible plastic tube.

The exclusive Aeroseal duct sealing system injects adhesive particles into the air duct system. The particles travel through the air duct system seeking holes and cracks that are located throughout the ductwork. The adhesive duct sealing particles attach directly onto the edges of any hole and crack effectively sealing it without coating the inside of the ductwork.

Duct Sealing Certification:
When the sealing process is completed, the computer results are verified and provided to the customer.

Duct Sealing Warranty:
The Aerosel sealant is guaranteed for 10 years.

Results:

Once the Aeroseal air duct sealing is complete, the technician will again measure the duct system leakage.

Typical Aero Seal Results in SacramentoAeroseal can reduce duct leakage by up to 90% and reduce your energy use by up to 30%. Aeroseal has also been shown to dramatically improve comfort and satisfaction with heating and cooling systems.

A sealing certificate and a tightness certification are generated by the computer. The sealing certificate shows duct leakage amounts before and after sealing, as well a graph of the sealing process, plus overall heating or cooling capacity improvement. The tightness certification, affixed to your duct system, shows the tightness of the duct system after completion of the sealing process.
