Park
Mechanical is a product of two family-owned businesses merging together
in 1978. D.H McAlpine Plumbing and Heating was founded in 1911 by
Dougal H. McAlpine who worked out of his garage in east Sacramento
gaining the confidence of many Sacramentans with his reliable and
knowledgeable service on their heating and plumbing systems. Dougal
G. McAlpine continued the business after his father death in 1955.
Dougal A. McAlpine joined his father's business in 1964 after graduating
from St. Mary's College in 1963. He served an apprenticeship, worked
in the field, and purchased the company in 1977 so his parent could
retire.
Park Sheet Metal Works was founded in 1920 by John Ryan and was located
in Oak Park on Sacramento Boulevard. During the 30's the company manufactured
and installed Ryan Furnaces in numerous Sacramento homes. The family
tradition continued as Dwight Benbow and then Bob Walker lead the
company.
In 1978 the two companies merged to provide better extended services
to the Sacramento area. Park Mechanical was lead by partners Bob Walker,
Jack Clark, Earl Flint and Duke McAlpine. After the death of Bob Walker
in 1979, the retirement of Jack Clark in 1988, and Earl Flint's pursuit
of owning his HVAC distribution Company, CFM Equipment Distribution;
Duke continued on his own with the help of his wife Linda. Two of
his sons, John and Jeff, joined in the family business operation in
1995 and 1996 respectively. They are continuing the tradition of a
family operated business with an extensive knowledge through on-going
training and a dedication to doing things right the first time. Park
Mechanical endeavors to be Sacramento's leader and premier choice
for quality HVAC and Indoor Air Quality sales, service and installation.
